Allow admins to ban members before they make their 1st post
Allow admins to ban members who upload inappropriate profile pics before they post a topic. Right now, members have to post a topic first before they can be banned. This setup does not give admins enough control to run their forum efficiently.

Notify admins of new topics and new members
We want to use Tal.ki to as our developer/API forum and think it would be cool to be notified when someone starts a new post (i.e. when a user posts a new question to use about our API).
51 votesWe’ll be building out an email service that would send out an instant email to all members, including admins when a new topic was started and when a new member joined. Members & Admins could opt-out of this.
In the meantime, you can subscribe to an RSS feed of new topics or new members & use feedburner.com to email it to you:

Add STACKOVERFLOWesque voting system
Would probably require a bit of a rework, but would love to see some sort of voting / tagging system similar to stackoverflow.com

CSS needs to be easier to modify
Can you give us the CSS file so that we can modify it. I tried getting it using Firebug and wasn't able to.

add an icon (or whatever) to show when a thread or category has new posts.
I'm just starting out, but I noticed that I'm having trouble noticing when a thread has new posts in it. Having a noticeable indicator that a thread has new posts in it would really be nice.

On Wordpress and Joomla, allow for turning off of third-party logins.
Is it possible to remove the login button in the forum and just allow the login in Wordpress? My users are getting confused. I am a pro customer.
29 votesWe can’t disable the login on wordpress installs, as some wordpress installations don’t allow for single sign on and there’s no way for us to detect that.
We’ll look into alternate options and hacks around this if we see it getting upvoted.
One suggestion I had was to put a big ‘Login’ button above the forum on the wordpress page for ppl who are not logged in. And maybe use the ‘Open ID’ login button on Tal.ki to divert people away from using it.

An Easy Way to Change the Default Text
It would be nice to have a simple way to edit the default text. For example, I'd like to change "Start a Topic" to "Post".
I'd also like to change "Members" to "Active Users".
If there was a way to edit the text, that would be great!

Ranks & Roles for members within a forum
Allow admins to place members in groups based on ranks or roles to reward them. It'd be nice to apply some graphical representation of this, such as a border around their avatar or icon/badge associated with their profile.

Give Admin ability to authorise specific members access to particular private forums
The problem is Wordpress requires admin access to the website to allow Admin/Moderator level access in Tal.Ki Pro forum. I would like the current Tal.Ki Admin/Moderators facility to approve specific Tal.Ki forum members access to specified private forums without making them Wordpress website users. This would allow me to determine which groups of people can participate in forums that are only visible to those groups and Admin/Moderators without allowing inappropriate access to the dashboard of the Wordpress website.

Allow choosing of background colors in Forum Admin panel
Defining a background color is nice, but on wordpress, joomla, weebly, etc., you can't put the code inside a div so there's no way to change the background color. And unfortunately, too many themes use a white image for the background instead of a color.

Provide better customer support for paid users.
The Tal.Ki customer support is bare bones and incredibly minimal. One is hard pressed to even find a response from Tal.Ki in their own support forum.
There is a huge potential for growth with this product/business model but you need way better customer support. Maybe even start with a simple ticketing system?

Allow admin to choose default language
This way, if there is a monolingual community, admin is sure about how the forum is showing up to this particular community.

Provide reporting functionality
We're a touch concerned about inappropriate content on our forums because we'll have a significant percentage of younger viewers. We'd love to have users be able to flag content as inappropriate and have it go into a queue for moderators to review (and then either remove or allow as appropriate). I know this is a big undertaking, and would certainly be willing to pay for it under one of the packages.
